“I will always strive to be the best version of myself”
To be honorable is to show the highest levels of respect to your fellow swimmers, your coaches and to all those around you. To act with good intentions and honesty is necessary to thrive not only in the pool but in your daily life. Go beyond what is expected of you. Do the right thing, even when no one is looking. Be a goodwill ambassador for your team at every turn.
“I understand both successes and failures can make me better and stronger”
Failures teach us lessons that are often more valuable than when we succeed. To show humility is to learn from every outcome, knowing there are only positive lessons to be learned. When we are successful and able-bodied, we remain modest about our accomplishments. We help those around us and build up our teammates, despite their outcomes. We understand that no one member of the team is more important than another.
“I will prepare with focus, going above and beyond what is expected of me.”
You are what you repeatedly do. At Malibu Canyon Aquatics, every swimmer is held to a high standard of behavior so that our good traits become good habits. Whether it’s being ready to swim 10 minutes before the start of your session, or learning to manage your time outside of the pool, the discipline you acquire at MACA will have a positive impact on the rest of your life.
